Beth Augsburger has a Bachelors of Science in Education from Eastern Mennonite University and a K-12 Math Endorsement from the University of Washington. She has taught math in both middle school and high school classrooms for more than 30 years.

Geny Calicott

Geny Calicott was born and raised in Puerto Rico.  Her complete birth name is Genevieve Marie Hernández Figueroa.  During her formative years, she traveled to Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Spain, and Mexico.  Her B.S. is from Virginia Tech.  She is happily married and has six children, all of which have been homeschooled.  In addition, she has taught a variety of Spanish courses to homeschooled high school students since 2002.  

Kelli Gowan

Kelli Gowan has a B.S. in Management from Georgia Tech, with minors in Finance and Information Systems.  She homeschools her six children, coaches homeschool robotics teams, and has taught in various co-ops.  Prior to homeschooling her children, Mrs. Gowan owned a mortgage company for six years and worked as a financial planner with licenses in stocks, bonds, and insurance.

Jessica Haubenreich lives in Lexington with her husband, David, and their three boys.  She has been homeschooling them for the last nine years.

Susan Samples

Susan Samples has a B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky and an M.A. in Education with an emphasis in Secondary English from the University of Kentucky.  Mrs. Samples taught eleventh grade English at Lexington Christian Academy before having children.  In addition to teaching her own children, she has taught English, writing, literature, and history to area homeschoolers for a number of years.

Danielle Saxton has a B.A. in Secondary English Education, in addition to an M.A. in Secondary English Education, both from the University of Kentucky. She has taught junior English at Henry Clay High School and worked with the 4-H program in Scott County, and she now stays home with her daughter. 

Angela Schanding

Angela Schanding has a B.S. and M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky where she took as many math electives as possible.  She worked at Lexmark in integrated circuit design before becoming a full-time homeschool teacher.  She has taught in various homeschooling groups as her daughters have grown up.  Her love for teaching and partnering with like-minded families has inspired her to join Core as a math teacher now that her youngest is nearing graduation.

Kimberly Taylor

Mrs. Taylor has received a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Microbiology from Alderson Broaddus College.  She pursued her graduate work at UK in the field of Microbiology and Immunology.  She worked for a private research firm investigating monoclonal antibodies to brain and breast cancer and ran a thyroid cancer lab at UK.  She has papers published in Clinical and Experimental Metastasis and Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.  Mrs. Taylor has been married for 30 years and has 4 children.  She was a homeschooling mom for 20 years and just graduated her youngest in 2019.  She has taught in multiple homeschool co-ops and academic centers at all age levels for 24+ years concentrating on high school physical science, biology, and chemistry for the last 13.  This will be her first year teaching physics.

Reid Thomas Jr.

Reid Thomas Jr. obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Houghton College (Major: Sociology, Minors: Communication and History) in 1987, and then earned a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1991.  In 2005 he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury Seminary in Preaching and Leadership as part of the Beeson Pastor Program. Having pastored churches in Kentucky and Pennsylvania, he brings more than 20 years of pastoral experience to the classroom.  In addition to the Core Program, he is an instructor for Indiana Wesleyan University (online and on-site) and Oklahoma Wesleyan University (online).  Reid and his wife Amy, who both homeschooled, have 2 children.

Shelli Wells

Shelli Wells holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Nebraska. In 2021, she graduated her youngest of three children after a 15-year homeschooling journey that included partnering with like-minded parents to integrate the teaching of humanities with worldview studies and their influence within culture.
