Purpose and Philosophy
Purpose
The Core program exists to assist parents as they continue home-based education in the high school years. Our goal is to provide a mechanism for participation in college-preparatory classes taught by qualified instructors.
It is not a school nor does it replace the parent as the primary educator; rather Core brings instructors and homeschooling parents together for the purpose of educating their high school-age students
Philosophy
The instructors at Core believe that an education is about learning to live life well. It is not merely a means to a materially comfortable, accolade-full existence. God offers us the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways, and an academic experience is no different from a mission trip or a retreat, in that he uses the plot events of our lives to grow us. With that in mind, we reject the idea that an education is all about test scores and grades and checking the boxes of an arbitrary transcript. Instead, we choose to encourage students to learn at a high level. We choose to offer students a choice for personal excellence and true learning. We choose to allow students freedom to develop both intellectual curiosity and academic integrity. We choose to provide students with an avenue to a life of self-motivation and determination. Because this education is about life, we teach academic subjects, but we offer students the opportunity to become focused, honest, diligent learners for life.
